Elite CVT are rugged in design with proven track record for several decades. ELITE constant voltage transformer CVT which are Ferro Resonant types. It is also known as Ferro resonant transformers and it gives constant Output even in heavy Input Fluctuations. All problems related to voltage variations / fluctuation is effectively handled because of this principle and gives constant voltage output of ± 1%. The output of the CVT is taken from the saturated secondary section of the transformer which has an energy reserve close to 5 -10 ms at full load and continues to deliver power from its own energy reserve.

 In our Constant Voltage Transformers – CVT, the AC mains power the input winding, which is widely separated physically from the isolated output winding. The input winding normally runs at very moderate Flux linkage levels. The output winding exhibits an intrinsic energy characteristic and this energy storage operate in conjunction with mains capacitor to produce self-generated AC flux Field which is indirectly extracted from the Input Winding.

Disadvantages of CVT:

  • Output voltage varies as a function of frequency unless a frequency compensating network is used. The output voltage will vary 1.6% for a variation of 1% (0.5 Hz) input frequency.

  • There is a hum noise increases as the CVT rating increases.
  • Very expensive when compared to Servo Stabilisers.


Recommendations:

  • Switch on CVT before switching ON the Load & while switching OFF switch, OFF Load first & then the CVT.
  • Switch OFF CVT when not in use to save power.
  • CVT cannot be used for an inductive load.
  • Keep magnetic storage & display devices like diskettes, spools, monitors, etc. away from the CVT.

Constant voltage 1 Phase Constant Volume Transformers in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. uses a tank circuit composed of a high-voltage resonant winding and a capacitor to produce a nearly constant average output with a varying input. The ferromagnetic approach is attractive due to its lack of active components, relying on the square loop saturation characteristics of the tank circuit to absorb variations in average input voltage. Older designs of ferromagnetic transformers had an output with high harmonic content, leading to a distorted output waveform. Modern devices are used to construct a perfect sine wave. The ferromagnetic action is a flux limiter rather than a voltage regulator, but with a fixed supply frequency it can maintain an almost constant average output voltage even as the input voltage varies widely.
